Peter joined Mobil in the 1980s as a chartered accountant, undertaking operational audits of Mobil’s affiliates in Europe, Africa and the Far East. Moving to Anderson in 1992, he led their oil sector practice across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa and before running the UK energy sector audit. In 2002 he joined Deloitte as global head of their oil & gas sector practice.

As Hon. Treasurer at the Institute of Petroleum he led a strategic review which progressed to form the Energy Institute under a new Royal Charter in 2003. He is currently a Director and Audit Committee Chairman at both the privately-held Addax & Oryx Group Ltd and at its Toronto-listed oil exploration subsidiary, Oryx Petroleum Corporation Ltd. Peter is also a director of Motor Fuels Group, a large private equity backed independent road fuels and convenience store retailer in the UK,  and  also serves on the Finance Committee of the Royal Geographical Society and chairs the Pension Scheme Trustee Boards for both the Energy Institute and the Royal Geographical Society.
